I really enjoyed your article on Phila. I had the opportunity to meet her and spend a few hours with her at a site visit for a corporate retreat at Hachland Hill. I left feeling like I had spent a day with the nicest person on this earth. Also, I was on a sugar high after we each enjoyed two pieces of pie and a couple cups of coffee. And, I came home with one of her cookbooks; autograhped by Ms. Phila. One of the best days ever!!
I missed my chance with a beautiful person just like Phila recently. Barbara Holden passed, but we took photos together. I bought her painting, and we hugged on different occasions whenever we met at the local art galleries. At her solo exhibition, she said, “Raj, this is my last Rodeo.” I wish I had sat and interviewed her, but all is good. Her painting is in my office. She passed at 91 and led an extraordinary life.
The pictures we don't take are ones we most remember often! I've certainly had similar experiences before just like yourself so now I try to shoot as much as possible, especially with older people. thanks for reading Raj!
I've been following you on ig for quite while now and I've only dicovered these amazing articles today! So far im loving it! Keep up with the good work
Wesley, thank you for the wonderful post! I did not know about Phila Hach until this moment and I plan to research her and her culinary experiences. There are moments in our life when chance brings us face to face with these inspiring older (but, oh, so young at heart!) fellow humans and I feel it is our duty to recognize and enjoy those moments to the max. Looking forward to your future posts, please keep them coming!
