What an amazing adventure (in more ways than one: the world can be such a small place) and the shots are beautiful.
I’ve always secretly wanted to explore the Badlands. Maybe someday (I’m not likely to travel back to my homeland anytime soon…). In the meantime, your images redouble my interest in a visit.
It’s so cool you had a great guide to take you around and provide backstories.
the closest I got was probably about 20 feet, which I do not recommend and was not the plan (but they moved closer to me that I had anticipated), and I was standing next to the car in an open door so I could have ducked in had I needed to
Can you make a post about photo assignments? I always keep hearing about then, but never understand that much
Sure thing! What would you like to know about them?
Just generally how the steps work, to me it always sounds like a game quest when I head about it lol
you can read part of the steps here: https://wesley.substack.com/p/postshootworkflow
Oh goodness. Those shocks were rocking. I'd have been in love with that assignment as well. Awesome awesome stuff, Wesley.
thank you!
Great story and great photos, Wesley!
thank you Kirsty!
That awkward moment lol!! The locals are the best way to see the best places anywhere you go it seems. Aren't bison majestic?
They are so so majestic, and so soulful in their movement and eyes

How far away from the Bison were you? They are amazing subjects!
