What an amazing experience with a superb photographer! What's so refreshing for me is to have it confirmed that the humour shown in so many of his images is a sense of the real man too - his pictures really did convey his view of the world.
For the focus on humor, I’m surprised his portraits have a more somber tone… was that just the expression he gave you, or was that an intentional choice on your end?
I felt no desire to change it. Someone of his age and with his life story gets to just be and I was lucky to photograph him as he was. Don't mind asking. Also, smiling photos are typically pretty bad.
Elliott Erwitt is one of my top three favourite photographers so I’m insanely jealous that you got to meet him, talk with him and take some wonderful photos of him. In fact, I’m so jealous I’m probably going to have to unsubscribe and block you.
(Seriously though, that was a really enjoyable read).
Great article, I love seeing tidbits of advice spoken from great photographers, you asked the right questions and the photos are magnifique!
Thank you Paul! So glad you enjoyed :)
This was such a privilege to read. Thank you Wesley.

That's what Mr. Erwitt gave me.
Interesting! Did you feel, at all, a wanting to change that? Or were you content to let it be, as is? Hope you don’t mind my asking!
