That sounds like an awful experience but it was good that you were able to get your camera gear back.

Very thankful for that!

So sorry to hear that, Wesley, but happy all your valuable cameras are safe and sound.

Thanks Alex! Appreciate it!

Glad the hard drive was backed up. Gear can always be replaced but my nightmare scenario is losing/having stolen HDDs with photos that have not been backed up and are therefore gone forever.

That would be the worst! Always double back up!

Wow that's scary. Glad it was resolved.

Sorry this happened Wesley but glad you and your gear made it through. I can imagine the stress and lingering effects continue long after the initial shock wears off.

Good tips as well to be prepared for the rest of us. I hope that hard drive was encrypted.

Encrypted! :) Thank you!

Wow, three months of time is nothing for a hardened criminal. A real shame. Unfortunately, he'll be back out there soon enough possibly a bit wiser with his craft of thievery. Good to hear the gear was left behind, and I hope you get some further recompensation.

Couple of hundred bucks for the missing bits, sadly vintage items are not seen as that valuable. And I agree, way too little time.

Wow this is a sad story but I have the impression that you were lucky on a certain point! The camera bag, the coat, etc! This is like a personal violation and it must be hard ... hope you are good now.

Absolutely feel lucky in terms of those things. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing all this Wesley, and glad to hear the gear made it unscathed! This is the weekend I finally insure my gear. I always have a slight worry when I take it travelling, but definitely need to consider it can happen anytime, anyplace.

Expand full comment

Absolutely! I am glad it's inspiring you to insure!

Sorry to hear that! What about Pentax?

Sorry to hear you experienced a burglary. Glad they did not take your camera stuff. Must have had quite an impact. Good you're ok now. Thanks for pointing out Noah's channel. Subscribed.

What a bummer. Sorry to hear it but glad it was not a lot worse.

And yes, backups offsite! For this, or heaven forbid, a fire.

Even solid state drives kept at a friend’s house can cover a large part of a person’s catalog, in a pinch.

Back up back up back up :)

What a bummer! We live rural and every time we need to leave, there is a feeling of dread wondering if this is the time we get hit. I as well, worry about the cameras and hard drives, but that is all i worry about. Lol Glad your most treasured gear survived the invasion. It is always unsettling.

Thanks Charlie, hope they continue to skip your home!
