What a year! You continue to inspire me, Wesley. I'm so glad we finally connected and look forward to finding a way to collaborate in 2024. Thanks for doing what you do. Happy New Year!
2024 will be about picking up some new skills and building deeper creative community for me: I’m taking a darkroom techniques class at a local community college from January to March. After, my friends and I are going to do a little “gallery” party in spring, where we’ll hang our favorite works around the house and eat dinner together. Happy new year!
Absolutely love this one ! I am currently in a coffee shop thinking about 2024 (I just survived in 2023). My biggest goal is to get my first art residency where I could take the time to rethink about my photographic process. Bonus goal : learn to handprint my negatives !
I would say my goal is to learn to take more interesting shots. Rn the majority of my shots are landscape compositions which are pretty but get monotonous :(
First of all, I look forward to your email every week, thank you so much for inspiring everyone with bits of wisdom and new ideas. My goals for 2024 include finishing my darkroom build (time to smell the fix again!), completing a planned gallery space in our new home for some of my work and former students, and finally pulling together a small group of photographers in my area for occasional get-togethers. As a retired photography teacher, I miss the camaraderie of a Fine Arts department and need a venue to bounce ideas and talk about art.
Wow, Wesley, I love love how you’re both ambitious and gracious towards goal setting! One of my intentions is to simply create more regularly; these projects include photography, but also other forms of making that’ll invite me to get into that state of flow more often!
Too often I leave my dslr at home and tell myself that my iPhone will suffice. Not anymore! I'm committing to bringing it not only on the obvious excursions (vacations, etc.), but the mundane outings as well. Photo shoot at the grocery store, anyone?? :)
My goals are kinda general -> read more books not only about photography, but also the philosophy of art and general philosophy, because it's all very connected and when one is focused on fine art, needs to know what he does. And one more specific, which I call requalification -> to be aware of light every single moment and make a step towards a professional photography.
These days I am getting more into B&W photography. Started experimenting with B&W photography on street photography starting last year. This year, my plan is to improve all aspects of my B&W photography skills using my Leica M6 and start B&W darkroom printing.
Wesley, you are well planned and organized. Love your goals. My main goal is working towards taking the 'perfect' picture - that combination of technique, style and impact that still draws people to look at an image years or decades later. The fact I'll never achieve this is what motivates me to keep shooting. There will always be more to shoot and better ways to shoot it.

Can't wait! Thanks Andy!

Perhaps you can expand and try other environments :)

These are wonderful goals Kim! Kudos! And thank you for the kind words!
Hi! My main creative goal for 2024 is to produce a (more) cohesive body of work.
love that Ivan
I want to leave the work I don’t like and pursue photography full time and make it my living out of it
PS thank you for all the info you sharing
you're very welcome Pasha, and good luck!
Thank you for the inspiring post! My goal in 2024 is to create a portfolio and start sharing my work with others. :)
Ambitious, and I love it!

Love that Mary! I have decided the same!

Excellent list, Karel! Kudos!
1st goal - sell the first 8 copies of my book that I already have printed.
2nd goal - create a new version of the same book but in a more affordable format, reprint, sell sell sell!
3rd goal - edit images and finalize 2nd book.
Thanks for your inspiration Wesley!
Love these, Jeremy! You go!

Couldn't have a better combo than b&w and the m6! Enjoy, Kun!

Always always always! thanks for sharing Mesut!
My creative goal is to take at least few photos this year where the lighting, composition, color and focus all work together.
Oh, and whilst capturing an interesting moment. That tells a story. But occurred organically.
You can do it, Pang!
