One of the special abilities of photographers is the magic of preserving moments that may be passed over by the relentless rhythm of time. Gifting our work to preserve those moments, even if only as an abstract artifact, is both empowering and humbling. Great shoot, Wesley.
Wesley, the general positive feeling and your warm narrative made a closing (although temporary), more of a celebration. Like Marcel notes, the essay is a real tribute to the staff that I am sure they will treasure. I love your expressive writing style, something I have to work on. I found a local story I have photographed but not yet put pen to. It's about a local nursery and flower shop that I could tell was a labor of love at my first visit. I returned several times to record a full season; Spring through Autumn. I will gift them a photo book or zine (or published essay?) when completed, and I plan to share it on social media and contact the local paper. I am wondering what other outlets to pursue to share their story...Ideas??? Thanks and see you next week!
Thanks Paul! I'd say think of local newspapers/online publications and publications specifically about small business (or with columns about those). Good luck!
Thanks for sharing. This is not only a great document for yourself and us as viewers, but also for the people of the bakery. Though I'm only shooting b&w I like the usage of color in this body of work.

Thank you Don, you perfectly worded my thoughts here!
Loved this. What a wonderful way to celebrate a cherished community business. So very well done. Cheers.
Thank you Mark! Much appreciated!
Great story and photos. A bit of welcome warmth from abroad.
Thank you Guinotte!

Thanks Marcel! I definitely made a conscious decision to shoot color for this because of the subject, usually go for bw as well.
