Process 066 ☼ Street Portraits with Zach Leon
GIVEAWAY: Long Weekend bag + film + online Moment course
Dear friends,
This week’s letter is home to a street portraiture series in collaboration with friend and fellow nomadic photographer Zach Leon.
This week’s PROCESS GIVEAWAY is courtesy of my friends at Moment who made available a Long Weekend bag + film + online Moment course.
This past week off from Process was used to put into place some exciting bips and future boops in the Process universe. As far as small bips you can check out the new Process issue cover image design on the archive page where we’re working our way backwards to get all the back issues uniform. Shout out to Taylor for the hard work putting these together and to Dan for his designer’s eye helping us tweak.
Street Photography - A Way To Meet A City
My favorite way to get to know a city is by sauntering through the busy streets surrounded by its people and soaking up the atmosphere. Whenever I can I’ll ask a stranger who peaks my interest if I can take their portrait. It may result in a brief encounter under ten seconds, just long enough to take their portrait, or it could lead to a longer conversation and recommendations about their city. Sometimes it even goes beyond that and leads to an enduring friendship.
My friend Zach Leon is a fellow photographer who shares the same passion for travel and street portraiture. A few weeks ago we got to talking and decided it would be fun to pair some of our favorite street portraits into a digital collection to share with you.
On my end these portraits were taken over the last few years in Brooklyn, Austin, Berlin, Tokyo, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Kyoto, and Salt Lake City. Zach’s portraits were all taken this year in the city of London.
Thank you to Zach Leon for this collaboration and for sharing his lovely portrait and graphic design skills to put this all together. Make sure to check out his Patreon where he shares more of his beautiful travel photography and work flow, and his Instagram. I think you’ll love the work and the level of integrity Zach imbues into it.
That’s it for this week!
Next week: Behind the scenes at a commercial shoot in Lisbon.

I do this! It is so encouraging to hear about your work.
I love it. And have met the most amazing people. Thanks also for sharing the portraits! Fun. If you are ever inclined, I’d love a live session of those that read Process to share and hear about their experiences with street photography. But for now, thank you for your work. -David
Over the past few years I've discovered how much I love exploring a city by taking pictures of it. It's taught me to look at things in an entirely new way. And I love the pics of people. I haven't yet approached folks for portrait shots, instead trying to capture them just going about their lives.
