Dear friends,
I recently co-hosted a photography contest with the good folks at Lomography, inspired by one of the assignments from Process Workbook Volume Two, and the response was incredible—we received an impressive 2,930 entries.
The assignment read as follows:
“Challenge yourself to capture a portrait without showing the subject’s face directly. Use creative composition, symbolism, and metaphor to convey their personality, emotions, or story through subtle visual cues and detail.”
The photo below which I took of my friend Brie served as the inspiration for this assignment. You might remember it from Process 117, where I shared the story of setting up my backyard studio.
Last week, we announced the winners, and today, I’m excited to share a collection of 37 honorable mentions. You’ll find them below, with each caption including the photographer’s Lomography username. Keep an eye on this newsletter for details on the next Process x Lomography photography contest, launching alongside the upcoming Process Workbook Volume Three.

Congrats to everyone who entered the contest for doing their thing. I hope to see your work again next time!
